Tiana Sanford, Special Crimes Division Chief
As Chief of the Special Crimes Division, Tiana supervises all of the prosecutors and staff assigned to the Public Integrity, Vehicular Crimes, Environmental, and Financial Crimes and Forfeiture Sections.
Tiana is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Houston Law Center. Tiana began her legal career in the Misdemeanor Division at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in 2009. Throughout the years, Tiana has served in various positions in the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, including as a District Court Chief Prosecutor, the Chief Prosecutor of the Public Integrity Section, and as a Special Prosecutor for cases in various counties across Texas. In 2019, Tiana was promoted to her current position as Division Chief.
In addition to her various duties as the Special Crimes Division Chief, Tiana also serves as Legislative Liaison for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to the Texas State Legislatures, on the Board of Directors and various committees for the Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and frequently trains prosecutors and judges across Texas.
She is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
The Special Crimes Division consists of the following sections: Public Integrity, Financial Crimes & Forfeiture, Elder Abuse, Vehicular Crimes, and Environmental Crimes. The Prosecutors, Investigators, and support staff assigned to these sections are involved with the investigations of these crimes and handle them all the way through prosecution.
Public Integrity
The Public Integrity Section of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office evaluate and investigate complaints of criminal misconduct by public servants, including use of force incidents by law enforcement.
Financial Crimes & Forfeiture
The Financial Crimes & Forfeiture Section of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office investigate and prosecute complex financial crimes and civil asset forfeiture cases.
Vehicular Crimes
The Vehicular Crimes Section of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office responds to fatality crash scenes to assist law enforcement with investigations, prosecutes all criminal charges arising out of fatality car crashes, and coordinates the TxDOT funded No Refusal Program.
Environmental Crimes
The Environmental Crimes Section of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes cases crimes such as illegal dumping and improper disposal of waste.
